Update 1: It’s official, according to several city hall reporters, Rob Ford has dropped out of the city’s mayoral race. Doug Ford is currently trying to file the proper papers to run for mayor, though it appears he forgot to get them notarized by a lawyer. The youngest Ford, Mike Ford, is also dropping out to make room for Rob in their Etobicoke North stomping ground.

According to an interview between Doug Ford and the Toronto Sun, Rob Ford may drop out of the city’s mayoral race due to his recent aliment.
Although the current mayor has yet to make a definitive decision, it appears that he is leaning toward running for the seat in his old Etobicoke North Ward. Doug Ford, on the hand, has said he may run for mayor if his brother doesn’t. There will not be two Fords on the mayoral ballot, however.
According to his brother, Mayor Rob is facing “a surgery and chemotherapy and could be on his back for six to eight weeks.” “[He] is in for the fight of his life,” added Doug Ford.
The family is waiting to speak with Mount Sinai’s doctors before deciding how to proceed. The brothers have until 2pm today to decide how to proceed. [via CBC]
