One of the city’s beloved record stores is moving to a beautiful new location.
On Saturday, Sonic Boom will open a new store in the historic Robertson Building at 215 Spadina (pictured above). The new location will replace Sonic Boom’s current stores at Honest Ed’s and Kensington Market.
To facilitate the move, Sonic Boom had to move a staggering amount of merchandise. All told, some 75,000 LPs, 20,000 CDs and 20,000 DVDs had to be moved down Spadina.
In a press release that was released today, Jeff Barber, Sonic Boom’s owner, spoke about a bit about the new store. “The location is incredible, the size is nearly the same as our current location and the building itself is absolutely beautiful. It really is going to be the same old Sonic Boom, just in a much nicer space,” he said.
Barber started looking for a new location after he found out about the sale Honest Ed’s.
