A power outage today left more than 6,000 people without power for much of the day. The city’s main transit hub, Union Station, was also left without power.
The outage started at 10:30 a.m, affecting homes and businesses from Danforth Ave. to Eastern Ave. area, as well as from Coxwell Ave. to Pape Ave.
Thankfully, it appears the issue has been mostly resolved.
According to Hydro One’s Twitter account, most of the 6000 people who lost power earlier in the day should have their power back now. The company says the outage was caused by an equipment malfunction at its Gerrard St transformer station.
Power to Union Station was also restored. Despite the outage, GO Transit managed to keep its busses and trains operating, even as parts of the station were in the dark and its Presto machines weren’t functioning.
