Those hoping for a non-Tory mayoralty may want to look away. A new poll shows John Tory continuing to widen his lead against Doug Ford and Olivia Chow.
The poll, which was conducted by Mainstreet Technologies, has 42 per cent of respondents saying they would vote for John Tory on October 27th. That’s a five point increase from last week. The increase comes at the expense of Doug Ford and Olivia Chow, both of whom saw their support dip by 2 points over the last week.
The poll surveyed 2,379 people, making it one of biggest polls conducted during this year’s mayoral race.
“It looks like Doug Ford may have hit his ceiling. He will have to find ways to reach outside his base and grow support,” said Quito Maggi, the president of the firm that conducted the poll. He went on to add, “Olivia Chow had a good week with her platform release and some hard hitting criticism of her opponents, but for her it may be too little, too late.”
So much for a close race.
