A new sticker wants to shame drivers who park in the city’s bike lanes.
According to its Tumblr account, the IParkedInABikeLane sticker (pictured above) was created by a pair of guerrilla cycling advocates.
“The concept is simple—you see a vehicle parked in a bike lane, you slap a sticker on it,” says the group’s Tumblr page. “The intention isn’t to cause damage or vandalize (the stickers don’t damage anything anyway)—it’s to get drivers to think twice about what they are doing and perhaps change their actions in the future.”
The page goes on to say,”Parking and driving in bike lanes is not only inconsiderate and selfish, but also incredibly dangerous, especially for cyclists who are not comfortable integrating with the flow of traffic.”
An Instagram account associated with the stickers has been around since late August, though it has only gained popularity in the past couple of days due to a post about it on Reddit. Judging from the comments on the group’s Instagram photos, the two cyclists are willing to provide stickers to anyone that’s interested in them.
