Today marks the start of Toronto city council’s final meeting of the 2010-2014 term.
It’s set to be a doozy with more than 400 items on council’s agenda. Councillors will consider issues such as the Raptors’ plan to build a new practice facility on Toronto’s Exhibition Grounds.
The meeting, which started at 10am, has already seen council pass a vote. Councillors voted 36-2 in favour of banning e-cigarettes in city workplaces. Mayor Rob Ford and Councillor Josh Matlow voted against the motion. Despite the quick start, the meeting is expected to take up to four days.
Mayor Ford told the CBC’s Jamie Strashin before the meeting took place that he’s “run the city better than any mayor ever has.” October 27th’s municipal election will decide if Torontonians agree.
No word yet if council will be asked to hug it out at the end of the meeting. [Via CBC]
