Less than a year after it opened its virtual doors, Eater Toronto has stopped publishing.
The website announced the closure through its Twitter page. The Vox Media owned network also closed down its Vancouver outpost—though its Montreal-based website seems to have been spared in the purge. Moreover, Eater’s sister website, Curbed Toronto, a website that was focused on the city’s real estate news, also stopped publishing several weeks ago.
According to Toronto Life, the website seems to have had trouble keeping a managing editor. Former Toronto Standard contributor Carolyn Grisold was the website’s first editor. She left a week before the website’s official launch party. In the span of eight months the website went on to have three managing editors. One imagines the website also had competing against the powerhouse that blogTO, which has cornered the market when it comes to local restaurant reviews and listicles. [via Toronto Life]
