Canadian fast-fashion super-brand Joe Fresh is expanding to more stores in the U.S., setting up in-store shops in close to 700 J.C. Penney locations.
The apparel line, owned by grocer Loblaw Cos. Ltd., will begin its American department store rollout in April 2013. So far, only the womenswear line will be available at J.C. Penney, which is currently undergoing a retail makeover with a former Apple executive at the helm.
“We are extremely proud to partner with one of America’s most iconic department stores, especially as they embark on a retail transformation headed by visionary CEO Ron Johnson,” said Joe Mimran, the fashion guru behind Joe Fresh, to The Globe and Mail on Wednesday.
Over the past year, six standalone Joe Fresh locations have opened up in New York state and New Jersey, to the delight of local ex-pats. A big-ticket move to gain international recognition, within Canada, the brand has been ranked the country’s top apparel label in units and dollars, as per data from market researcher NPD.
