The only thing that makes summer’s end somewhat tolerable is the great fall fashion to come. At the overwhelming amount of fall previews I’ve attended so far, it seems a rusty shade of bordeaux is the must-have colour. Deep and sumptuous, this rich, red-ish magenta is practically royal when paired with other shades of the season, like forest green or mustard. Small bonus: pesky red wine stains will blend right in!
1. Tied up, tucked in, or free flowing, this collared shirt is guaranteed to be a class act. (American Apparel loose fit bordeaux shirt, $65)
2. Spill all you want. These pants will keep your tipsy little secrets. (Maison Martin Margiela stretch cotton skinny jeans, $425)
3. Is there anything more perfect than McQueen’s iconic skulls in a dark bloody shade? (Alexander McQueen bordeaux/black silk skull scarf, $295)
4. Embrace the peplum’s last few breaths and make the trend your own with this unique variation on the classic. (Hakaan bordeaux peplum sheath dress, $2,395)
5. The colour keeps it opulent, the studs make it punky. (La Mer collections women’s LMSW5003 bordeaux Bali studs wrap watch, $135)
6. I promise people won’t mistake you for Hugh Hefner in this blazer. (Tagliatore 0205 bordeaux velvet blazer Francesca, $620)
7. A much better shade to stain your nails with than your teeth. (Tom Ford beauty nail lacquer, bordeaux Lust, $30)
8. Pair this shoe with black tights and a pencil skirt for a posh pop of colour. (Kors Michael Kors kempton platform pump bordeaux suede, $250)
9. Is it ironic that this bag is the perfect size for smuggling a bottle of wine into a movie theatre? (Fendi bordeaux bag 2jours, $1,800)
