Rapper Will.i.am and Simon Cowell will collaborate on the Tech X Factor
Some kids sing into hairbrushes and some kids build websites. Until now, only the former have been able to flaunt their talents in a major television contest for a chance to make it big.
Rapper Will.i.am plans to create a tech-based spinoff of the singing competition television show, The X Factor, with its creator, Simon Cowell.
The pair met last month to discuss plans to find the next technology talent the likes of Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. By recruiting the next big names in math and science, the show will create many more jobs than a performance competition would, Will.i.am told the Sun.
The X Factor currently only recruits U.S. contestants, but Cowell announced in June, that he want to see Canadian participants become eligible. This decision was inspired by Canadian chart toppers Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jespen, says the Vancouver Sun.
