Bowie is back and (almost) as gender-bendy as ever! The video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” features look-a-similar Tilda Swinton as Bowie’s wife and tracks their encounter with a pair of equally androgynous youngsters dressed like Bowies of old, flipping the happy couple’s world upside down. The song is catchy and the video is weird and it’s all you could ever want from a David Bowie comeback. His new album The Next Day is available now and already getting some pretty good reviews.
For those who keep tracks of these things, the video was directed by acclaimed Italian-born, naturalized Canadian photographer and director Floria Sigismondi, best known for directing Marilyn Manson’s mega hit The Beautiful People. This isn’t the OCAD grad’s first time working with Bowie, she directed videos for Little Wonder and Dead Man Walking back in the 90s. Sigismondi got her start directing music videos for The Tea Party and Our Lady Peace.
