Just as we predicted over a year ago, famous actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul are bringing their hamburger restaurant Wahlburgers to Toronto, their first foray into Canada restaurant-wise. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg, the new location to open at the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel will house a sports bar, seated dining and a quick service restaurant promising a “family-friendly dining experience,” because that’s what the Wahlbergs are all about: family.
A press release that was meant to be read aloud with your best Mark Wahlberg impression reads as follows: “Inspired by their love for the burger and the casual comfort food of their Boston childhood, the Wahlberg brothers opened the original Wahlburgers in October 2011 as a chef-driven burger concept. The menu features fresh made-to-order burgers along with family favourite recipes using locally-sourced, house-made ingredients.”
As far as the menu goes, we’re looking forward to Mark’s Choice: “The Thanksgiving Burger” made with fresh ground and seasoned turkey, just the way Mark likes it, dressed with Paul’s orange cranberry sauce that we assume Mark always requests specially, homemade roasted butternut squash — Mark Wahlberg likes to eat this — and stuffing that Mark loves.
The announcement is being celebrated with a “green carpet” event (because the Wahlburgers logo is green) September 9 (conveniently timed during TIFF) at which Mark (!!!) will make an appearance.
Reminder: Donnie Wahlberg is in New Kids On The Block.
