A Reason to be Annoying on Instagram
Get ready to whip out your iPhone and stretchy pants

Yes, we’re strategically sharing this right before your lunch break.

I used to always take pictures of my food before I could even think of enjoying it. That is, until I realized that I was quickly accumulating hundreds of photos of food that collected virtual dust – er, pixels? – in my photo library. Annnnd I looked like a huge d-bag.

Toronto start-up Taste Toronto has developed a platform to put those photos to use. The website acts as an aggregator of local foodie pics, showing you only what you need to see of the best dishes around the city.

All you need to do is use the hashtag #tastetoronto on your phone, or e-mail submit@tastetoronto.ca. If your photo is selected, it’ll gain exposure to the account’s 24,000 followers. The account also has a number of contests which gives lucky eaters some free food. (Pease, though, don’t send them pictures of your poo.)

So next time you’re called-out for busting out at your iPhone at Momofuku, just tell them you’re a “freelance photographer for Taste Toronto.”
