As a possible strike looms just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend, the LCBO is telling customers to stock up while they can.
“In advance of the first long weekend of the summer, customers are encouraged to shop early for the best product selections,” says Bob Clevely, the LCBO’s senior vice-president of retail operations in a news release posted today.
The release notes that talks between the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and the LCBO are underway, but a deal has yet to be reached. Time is running out as the May 17 strike deadline fast approaches.
Whatever the outcome, all regular LCBO stores will be closed Monday, May 20 for Victoria Day. Some locally-owned agency stores in towns too small to support full-scale LCBO locations will remain open.
