Code for America has just added a map of Toronto to their Click That ‘Hood game so now locals have a way to test each other about who’s the most Torontonian. The online game has two play options with the easy level testing the player on only 20 Toronto neighbourhoods, whereas the difficult version puts all 140 neighbourhoods into play — and without street names and TTC stations to act as markers (thank you, Google Maps), both difficulties can be considered fairly challenging.
The game does facilitate cheating in a way, at least for those with a quick clicking finger (and fragile ego), since the name of the neighbourhood your mouse is hovering over is displayed right underneath. Basically you could successfully play the game dragging your mouse back and forth over the map until the matching neighbourhood name pops up, but where’s the fun in that? Cheaters never prosper, etc. — but it may be worth it to declare yourself a Toronto savant and lord that fact over fellow city folk who don’t know their ‘hoods.
