Loblaw recalls 2 salsa products
Yikes! Loblaw Companies Ltd. is advising the public to avoid two house brand salsa products, as some may contain plastic pieces.
The Canadian Press reports the 430-millilitre PC Salsa Mild and the 650-millilitre PC White Corn Black Bean Mild Salsa are included in the recall, and have been removed from stores as a preventative measure.
The news agency writes that so far, no contaminant-related injuries have been reported. Still, customers are able to return the aforementioned products at any Loblaw banner store for a full refund.
Thankfully, no Blue Menu items have yet to be affected by this recall.
Needles, testosterone found in Oscar Pistorius’ bedroom
Two boxes of testosterone and needles were found in Oscar Pistorius’ bedroom, according to South African police.
The South African national and double-amputee Paralympian and Olympian has been charged with the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day. However, this recent development was revealed at a bail hearing for Pistorius, in Detective Hilton Botha’s testimony.
This raises suspicion that Pistorius was possibly using performance-enhancing substances during his groundbreaking races last summer, where he became the first Paralympian runner to compete at the summer Olympic Games.
The 26-year-old athlete’s camp has yet to comment on this discovery, but has insisted that Steenkamp was shot by mistake, out of fear she was an intruder on the premises.
J-Lawr’s new gig
The odds are forever in Jennifer Lawrence’s favour, at least when it comes to working with Oscar-nominated writer-directors. Silver Linings Playbook writer-director David O. Russell has signed the 22-year-old actress to be the female lead in his upcoming film, The Ends of the Earth.
Lawrence previously agreed to cameo in Russell’s next film, a project formerly known as American Bullshit, which also stars Bradley Cooper.
The Ends of the Earth will, according to Vulture, feature a “fact-based love story about a powerful oil tycoon who has everything stripped from him after he is caught in an affair.” Lawrence will play the tycoon’s niece, and we have a feeling another parlay scene will be thrown into the movie’s theatrical mix.
If these two projects go forward as planned, it will make for three filmmaking collaborations between Russell and Lawrence.
