Coyote killed in Cabbagetown; BlackBerry takes a tumble; J.Lo comes to Adele's rescue. Your Morning Cable

Coyote killed in Cabbagetown

A large coyote has been killed by the Toronto police due to its aggressive behaviour, after first being spotted in the Cabbagetown area on Sunday night.

CityNews reports police arrived in the area, near Carlton and Sackville streets, just before the animal ran into a Wellesley Park-area ravine.

An officer reportedly fired a warning shot to get the coyote back into the forested area, but it returned to the community instead. Police told CityNews there was not enough time for them to call animal services about the animal’s urban presence.

However, Toronto Animal Services told CityNews it is normal to spot a coyote in the city, particularly in a year with a relatively mild winter.

BlackBerry takes a tumble

BlackBerry shares dropped 4.5 per cent on Monday after Home Depot revealed plans for its executive team to use Apple’s iPhone instead of the mobile Waterloo-based device.

A Home Depot spokesperson told the Canadian Press the retailer has close to 10,000 executives, managers and corporate staff in the U.S. who will receive these smartphones. As a result, the news agency writes BlackBerry lost 75 cents per share, and closed at $15.76 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Monday.

Home Depot’s corporate team used to rely on BlackBerry for their daily business needs, but this smartphone switch will also affect Canadian executives.

Though the BlackBerry Z10 debuted inCanadain January, it will not be released in the U.S.until later in March.

J.Lo comes to Adele’s rescue

The power of leg, everybody.

Jennifer Lopez saved Adele from a Grammys crasher who ended up on stage while the British songstress was about to accept her Grammy for Best Solo Pop Performance.

Lopez quickly shooed away Vitalii Seduik with a glare and a hit-the-road thumb jerk. Her actions resulted in an eight-second video clip, and spared Adele from embarrassment or worse.

But, this is not Sedulik’s first tango with the stars. The Ukranian TV personality previously made headlines for trying to smooch with Will Smith at the Men in Black III premiere, and gave Madonna those ill-fated hydrangeas back in 2011.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seduik nabbed Adam Levine’s seat before making his way to the stage, as it was vacant at the time. He was later detained by security, and spent the night in jail.

She’s still Jenny from the Block, indeed.
