Ikea Monkey Owner Goes To Court
In Darwin, we trust. Yasmin Nakhuda, the Ikea monkey’s owner will visit an Oshawa, Ont. courtroom on Thursday to fight to bring her ‘son’ home.
Nakhuda is willing to move from the GTA and into the Kawartha Lakes to best accommodate Darwin’s needs, and live in a municipality that allows for exotic pets.
680 News reports Nakhuda says her decision to release her pet rhesus macaque into the hands of animal services was under duress, and that she did not know what she was signing, even though she knew that owning the pet was illegal.
For over a week, Darwin has been living in a primate sanctuary in Sunderland, Ont. Should she get ‘her’ monkey back?
Pedestrian hit by TTC bus
A woman has been struck by a TTC bus in North York, and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Wednesday night.
680 News reports the woman, a pedestrian, was struck at Yonge Street and Finch Avenue just before 8 p.m., and the intersection was subsequently shut down for the investigation.
Initial reports say the woman was trapped under the bus, butTorontopolice say only her jacket and backpack were caught under the tires. No charges have been laid or announced, for now.
Is NASA building its very own Buzz Lightyear?
The Hollywood Reporter shows a new space suot, the Z-1 Prototype Spacesuit and Portable Life Support System 2.0, which is fluorescent, with green stripes, and features transparent dome helmet — making anyone who wears the suit a Buzz Lightyear doppelganger.
The prototype has been named one of Time magazine’s inventions of the year, and is designed to keep astronauts comfortable and safe for long missions into deep space.
But, is the look a coincidence? Disney and NASA collaborated earlier this year to create and develop a series of hands-on educational exhibits and activities across the country, centered around Buzz’s (Lightyear, not Aldrin) fictional voyage to infinity and beyond.
Shenanigans.
