Canadian Julia Wilkinson advances to swimming semifinal

The Olympic pride of Stratford, Ont. advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 100-metre freestyle swimming event at the London Games, on Wednesday morning.

Julia Wilkinson had a third-place finish in her preliminary heat, with a time of 54.16, or ninth overall. American medal favourite Missy Franklin, will also advance to the semifinals, finishing with a time of 54.26.

CBC News reports Wilkinson will swim in the semifinals at around 2:40 p.m. ET. Exciting!

Toronto cabbies can use the bathroom at Billy Bishop Airport

The Toronto Port Authority (TPA) has reversed the bathroom ban at Billy Bishop Airport, allowing cab drivers to use the facilities, for now.

The Toronto Star originally reported that the TPA had banned cabbies from relieving themselves at the Bathurst Street site, accusing them of making a mess of the washrooms in the passenger building, where travellers wait before riding the ferry to the airport. In the interim, the TPA wanted the drivers to use porta-potties in the parking lot, until separate bathrooms were built specifically for them.

However, this allowance was reinstated on Tuesday, and cab drivers will be able to use the washrooms after repairs are finished, in a week. In exchange for access and relief, the Toronto Star reports that the cabbies have since agreed to monitor the cleanliness of the facilities.

Robert Pattinson hides at Reese Witherspoon’s ranch

After breaking the cheating scandal between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson last week, Us Weekly is now exclusively reporting that Pattinson is hiding out at Reese Witherspoon’s vacation house.

The 26-year-old Twilight star has not been spotted in public since the magazine revealed Stewart had cheated on him with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. However, despite false reports, Pattinson has allegedly been living at Witherspoon’s $7-million ranch in Ojai, Calif, the site of her 2011 wedding to talent agent Jim Toth.

Pattinson and Witherspoon are longtime friends, having starred in two films together, 2004′s Vanity Fair and 2011′s Water for Elephants. The Legally Blonde star is currently pregnant with her third child, her first with Toth.
