Toronto: meet PARTYNEXTDOOR, the next big name in Canadian hip-hop/R&B/whatever you want to call it. The 20 year old hails from Mississauga, and is the first artist to be signed to Drake’s label, OVO Sound. PARTYNEXTDOOR first came into the public eye with his song “Make A Mil,” and garnered a lot of comparison to fellow Torontonian The Weeknd, who was falsely rumored to be the first signee to Drake’s label. PND released his eponymous mixtape last Monday, July 1st. Drizzy himself makes on appearance on the second last track of the mixtape, titled “Over Here.”
PND keeps you in his home space of Mississauga throughout the tape: “This ‘Sauga at the sunset” begins the albums opener (“Welcome to the Party”), and later, “this what ‘Sauga feel like in the nighttime” (“Break From Toronto”).
Listen to “Break From Toronto” below, and download his whole mixtape, for free, right here.
