Ever wanted to see a scene of urban decay, with a Valencia filter, where you can actually watch the paint crumble? Or how about a Lo-Fi brunch date, where you can actually hear the lull in conversation as the brunchers snap photos? A source revealed to TechCrunch that all of these Insta-dreams will soon become Insta-reality as the popular app Instagram will soon have video capability.
All of this is news to me, as I still thought Instagram was some sort of online pot-dealing service.
The source relays that Instagram video will launch June 20th. Earlier reports suggest that the videos will be anywhere between 5 and 10 seconds in length. These rumours are backed up by the appearance of several invitations sent out by Facebook (who owns the app), announcing “a new product” to be released on that date.
This would be a well-needed development for Instagram, which was just bypassed in Twitter usage on June 4th by Vine, a popular video sharing application that’s mostly used to follow rapper RiffRaff (@JODYHiGHROLLER).
Get your iPhones out, we think you’re ready to be the next Stan Brakhage.
