Fan Expo Canada, Canada’s largest fan convention, is adding a sports component for the first time ever this year. Sports fans will have the opportunity to purchase memorabilia in the convention’s 700,000 square feet of retail space, but the sports show will also feature signings and celebrity photo sessions, Q&As and seminars wth both sports agents and professional athletes. They’ve managed to get a pretty impressive list of guests for the show as well. This being Canada, the emphasis is on hockey, and hockey star guests include: Martin Brodeur, Joe Sakic, Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr. Other guests include NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana; wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan (in his first Canadian appearance, according to a press release); and Canadian horse racing champion Ron Turcotte.
Fan Expo Canada will be held from August 22nd to 25th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Tickets for the Sports Show will be available on their website starting April 1st.
