DC Comics Introduces New Green Lantern as Openly Gay Billionaire
Superhero Alan Scott to be revealed as a youthful, openly gay Green Lantern in next week's 'Earth-2'

The New 52, a 2011 revamp and relaunch of DC Comics’ entire line of superhero comics, is reintroducing the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, as an openly gay man.

James Robinson, who is writing the revamped series, stated the hero will enter parallel world Earth-Two as a much younger Alan Scott, but his youth is not to detract from his esteemed compassion and bravery.

Fanatics should be aware that this Alan Scott is not the Justice League’s emerald galactic cop they may be familiar with. The Green Lantern will be reintroduced as a titan of the media industry- a billionaire.

Sexual orientation in the comic medium has become a topical subject as of late. Seeing as Marvel superhero ‘Northstar’ proposed to his longterm boyfriend last month, 2012 has been a very exciting year for gay rights activists and comic fans alike.

The new character is to be revealed next week, in the second issue of “Earth-2”.
