The CBC has acquired a documentary filmed by Mentorn Media that examines the events of the February 14th shooting of Oscar Pistorius’ girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The documentary, filmed following the shooting, aired on March 12 on the BBC3 and has been a acquired by a number of networks around the world. It will air on the CBC News Network’s The Passionate Eye this Sunday March 17th at 10 p.m.
Narrated by Rick Edwards, who reported on Pistorius’ London 2012 Paralympic achievements, the documentary aims to provide a deeper look at the events of that night and features interviews with the friends of both Pistorius and Steenkamp. The list of interviewees includes Steenkamp’s ex-boyfriend of five years, Warren Lahoud, with whom Steenkamp met mere days before her murder. Lahoud reports that Steenkamp received two calls from Pistorius during their meeting. In the documentary, Lahoud shares that the phone calls lead him to inquire if all was well, to which Steenkamp replied, “There’s nothing wrong.” Lahoud also reveals that Steenkamp did not seem unhappy and that she insisted she would not be in a relationship with someone who made her unhappy.
News of Pistorius’ suicidal state as he continues to deal with the ongoing legal battles and costs have been denied by his family.
