We know Drake loves Toronto. He loves it a lot. He prominently featured the CN Tower in one of his music videos. Same with the Skydome (ahem, the Rogers Centre). He talks about how he loves Toronto but do Torontonians really care about him as much as he claims we do? (It’s not like we should talk though, because we publish articles about him at least once a week).
With help from The New Yorker‘s fact checker Carolyn Kormann, NPR News has investigated this fact, and the results are sort of surprising. To break it down:
1) We like him, but we started later than everyone else. Understandably, Canadians had more trouble separating Drake from Aubrey Graham and Jimmy, his vile Degrassi character.
2) We came to respect Drake after we were sure of his friendship with Lil’ Wayne, but we don’t like Lil’ Wayne as much as the rest of the world does.
3) Even though we dig Drake’s love for us, we still think he’s kind of an emo pussy, because he grew up in “[sic] Forest Hills.”
4) Guess what?! Rob Ford likes Drake too.
