Alexander Rhodes’ IMBD Profile Picture
Alexander Rhodes is one of the film industry’s biggest names. He is the eighth most popular celebrity on IMDB and is credited above Tom Cruise in the upcoming film, Jack Reacher. Throughout his vast career, Rhodes has portrayed roles of epic proportions including: College Guy in Won’t Back Down, Millgrove Football player #15 in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and his new role, Suspicious Onlooker in the film, Jack Reacher. In his downtime he attends biology classes at the University of Pittsburg, hangs out with his cat, Huckle and plays Starcraft 2. If Rhodes seems like a normal guy, it’s because he is. Rhodes’ recent bout of fame is thanks to the online community, Reddit.
Last month, Rhodes commented on the thread, “Where do they find those skinny guys for Holocaust movies?,” with a description of his own experience from being an extra on the Christian Bale film, Out of the Furnace and a link to his IMDB page. From there, Redditors found his page so amusing that they’ve flooded it with traffic and started the hashtag #rhodes2hollywood for the aspiring actor. Rhodes, a Reddit addict himself, has been an active participant in the event, responding and retweeting comments from his new fan base.
On Tuesday, the official @TomCruise twitter mentioned Rhodes and added a Rhodes 2 Hollywood tracker on Cruise’s Twylah. On Wednesday, musician Flux Pavilion wrote, “my new favorite actor,” with a link to Rhode’s IMDB page.
Who knows, this popularity could score Rhodes his own big movie gig, or it could die out as most memes do. For now, let’s just kick back and watch this video of Rhodes watching a video of a guy watching Nyan Cat for 10 hours. #Rhodes2Hollywood
