Morgan Spurlock, who has ample experience with questionable fast food chains thanks to his 2004 documentary Supersize Me, weighed in on the Chick-fil-A controversy yesterday during an interview with Toronto Standard’s Sabrina Maddeaux:
“I’m all for kiss-ins, I think there should be even more kiss-ins at Chick-fil-As. Actually, you know what I want to do? I want to go make out with a chicken at a Chick-fil-A and hear what he [Dan Cathy] has to say about that– what’s he gotta say about man-on-chicken kissing?”
Chick-fil-A has been heavily criticized since CEO Dan Cathy said he was “guilty as charged” when asked about his company’s “support of the traditional family” in an interview with the Baptist Press. In response, same-sex couples and their supporters have staged ‘kiss-ins’ at Chick-fil-A locations whereby they show up and, well, make out in protest.
“Ultimately, at the end of the day, I feel like people should be allowed to say whatever they want to say, but when you’re putting out speech that I think is derogatory or is against a certain group of our population, then it becomes problematic,” said Spurlock.
