Dust off your Leafs sweater, scarf, cap, toque, bed sheets, jacket, running shoes and lunch box. Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment will be giving away more than 1000 free tickets to fans decked out in their Leafs gear across the city for Monday’s home opener at the Air Canada Centre against the Buffalo Sabres. To make up for the painful lockout, MLSE has declared the next four days “fan appreciation” days and will be on the hunt for fans “showing Leafs pride & wearing team apparel.” Additionally, season ticket holders will not be charged for Monday’s game and all attendees will receive a commemorative scarf. The giveaway was announced at today’s Leafs practice open to the public at the ACC. Following the team online, on Twitter and on Facebook will net fans even more chances to win.
So don’t be surprised to see grown men walking around the city in their Leafs pyjamas begging strangers for tickets over the weekend. This is a big deal for some of us.
